Choosing the Perfect Bathroom Tile
First blog post! Hi, I’m Jen. I’m a Connecticut Yankee living in Texas and I’m an interior designer. I have almost 20 years of experience in fine art and interior design. Another fact about me- I’m a “construction junkie” and I love to renovate an outdated space. I also LOVE shopping for tile.
When choosing the perfect bathroom tile:
Consider the functionality. Larger tiles = less grout = easier maintenance. However, smaller tiles often work better for niches and shower pans.
Don’t be afraid to mix it up. I use AT LEAST 3 different tiles in each design. Often more. Lay them all out on the floor together when making selections and it quickly becomes obvious which ones don’t work together.
You don’t have to vary color necessarily, but you want to vary scale for sure. Sometimes I will use different size tiles of the same finish to create a more textured look, vs having a lot of different colors. The white porcelain tile trend is a good one to try that look.
